Coordinated phishing emails claim a large Apple Store purchase has been charged to your Apple Pay and urge you to call a 'fraud helpline'. Callers reach scammers who persuade them to share 2FA codes or install remote access tools to steal banking credentials.

Apple: A charge of £849.00 for iPhone 16 Pro has been processed via your Apple Pay. If you did not authorise this, call our fraud line immediately: apple-support-billing.xyz/fraud

Red flags to look out for

What to do if you receive this

  1. Do not call any numbers or click any links in the message.
  2. Log in to your account directly via the official website or app to check for any real alerts.
  3. Forward the message to 7726 or email report@phishing.gov.uk.
  4. Report it to Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk.
